The hero walks around an endless (top-down view) loop that encounters more and more enemies. The first thing to talk about is the actual main gameplay the loop. There are so many parts to this little game, I’ll give a brief explanation of each section and explain why it is incredible. I was blown away by the depth in progression, combat design, customization, and unique gameplay. This game balances so many different game systems and makes strategy and preparation as active as the actual battle. ******************************************************************************Ī roguelike game that literally puts your character walking in an endless loop? As much as it sounds silly or boring, Loop Hero is easily one of the best roguelike games I’ve ever played and easily in the running for my personal Game Of The Year list. Loop Hero is a phenomenal little masterpiece and now we can all enjoy it on our TV’s or in our laps. Using the controller can take a couple of minutes to get used to but you can just use the touch screen, which is very natural to use. Luckily, players won’t suffer from any performance issues when switching to Switch. Between moments of travel, boredom at school or work, or just in a relaxing place away from your gaming set-up, being able to play this masterful game anywhere is a true joy.
The Nintendo Switch is great for a number of reasons, but its portability is its strength when it comes to games like Loop Hero.
LOOP HERO COUNTER FULL
We will quickly go over our thoughts about the Nintendo Switch version, but our full thoughts of the game as a whole will be below. A Warehouse (costs: 11 Stable Wood, 8 preserved rock, 6 Stable Metal, 10 Orbs of Expansion), will increase the total number of items that you can store and equip. We at GeekTyrant love Loop Hero and gave it a 10 on PC. You will also need to build a Supply Depot (costs: 9 Stable Wood, 17 Stable Metal, 9 Food Supply and 3 Metamorphosis Orbs) which unlocks the supply feature and allows you to equip items. However, the rogue starts with a 5% Vampirism class bonus and you can build and equip multiple copies of the Count’s Chair to slowly increase the stat. The rogue will never receive an item with a Vampirism bonus whilst on an expedition, so it may seem counter-intuitive to equip the Count’s Chair. The Count’s Chair gives the hero a 1% bonus to their Vampirism stat (which heals the hero for a % of the damage they inflict on an enemy creature). Use crafting (unlocked by building the Smithy (costs: 2 Stable Wood, 4 preserved rock, 7 Stable Metal, 2 Food Supply), and craft the Count’s Chair-crafting produces a random item so this may take some time. Similarly, Forest tiles increase the hero’s attack speed by 1% per tile placed. You can see the cumulative effect of this reduction (as a percentage), in the top right-hand corner of the battle screen. Each Desert and Sand Dune tile reduces the hit-points of all creatures by. This will allow you to place Desert, Sand Dunes, and Forest landscape tiles onto the map. Since the rogue wants to end battles quickly, it can be useful to add the Desert and Forest cards to your deck. This is a great way to buff your character as magic hit-points regenerate to full strength at the beginning of each battle. Amulets give the rogue access to magic hit points (essentially a shield).
This will unlock the Arsenal golden card, which can be added to your deck to unlock the amulet item slot. Work towards building a Smelter (costs: 5 Preserved Rock, 18 Stable Metal 3 Food Supply, 1 Metamorphosis Orb).
